Western Wake GLBTQ Association is a new organization for 18-30 year old Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Transgender, and Questioning persons in the western Wake county area (Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina and Morrisville). Our goals are to make gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning individuals feel more comfortable about themselves, create a healthy perspective of the GLBTQ community and get together in safe social outings. While other organizations exist in the general area, there is no group that emphasizes the Cary/Apex area, a region that has been growing exponentially and has a sizable LGBTQ community. Offering carpooling and close meeting places is key to our strategy to make our towns a safer place to live while having fun as well. In no way competing with other organizations in Raleigh or Durham, we intend to do just the opposite and help strengthen our causes and increase the size of the LGBTQ community's reach.

We will plan for NC Pride and take suggestions for other projects.

We might protest for such things we believe in like as marriage equality, partner rights, the anti-bullying act and the "don't ask don't tell" policy.

We will be getting people to speak about issues that matter such as same-sex marrige and civil rights.

During meetings we might discuss how you have been treated since our last meeting such as have you been called any derogatory names, treated badly, been victimized or anything else of that nature.

We will try and help people that have been kicked out of their homes for coming out to their parents.

We will also try and educate the public on what being GLBTQ means to us.

We will also try and get people to talk about what being gay and the workplace means to them.

We might read books about being GBLTQ.
